I usually prefer smaller watches between 34mm-39mm, but my honest opinion is that on your wrist, the 36mm looks really insignificant. perhaps that might change if the bracelet was attached with you retaking photos against a darker background.
If you share that perspective, go for the 39mm. If your goal isn't to go as big as you can "pull off," and you prefer the understated look, go 36mm. Either way, at most 50% of people will notice you're wearing a watch, and at most half of those will notice the manufacturer.Personally at <7in wrist size, I think a 36mm Explorer is perfect. To me, the current Explorer does look a bit larger than the previous 36mm Explorer due to the slightly thicker case, wider lugs and bolder dial.
